il bel far niente

“The beauty of doing nothing.”
I haven’t read this Eat, Pray, Love book all the women are into, but when I saw ‘il bel far niente’ on a facebook status today I was interested. After some investigation, the translation, and it’s probable source, appeared. (Thank you, Google.com. I love you.)
Though the academic in me knows I should reach for the primary source to cross check references myself, I’m not going to this time.
Because I’m siting on the couch.
For the first moments in ages.
Doing.
Nothing.
And after I hit “Publish”
I’m going back to doing nothing.
And I’ll be enjoying the hell out of it.
“Generally speaking, though, Americans have an inability to relax into sheer pleasure. Ours is an entertainment-seeking nation, but not necessarily a pleasure-seeking one.” (allegedly from Eat, Pray, Love, that book all the women are into…)

I’ll let you borrow the book. You know you want to read it.
I’ll even let you join me and the girls to go see the movie. August 13. Save the date!
i think the book sucks. at least the audiotape did.
just my humble opinion.
